“Cydia Stuck on Reloading Data Error” Fix on iPhone and iPad: Cydia is the best place to download any tweaks you need for your iOS device, it’s a good thing it gets installed automatically whenever you jailbreak otherwise jailbreaking your device and going through all those hoops would really be worthless.
Cydia was the catalyst that was needed to start the App Store revolution – it was the first App Store on iOS and it forced Apple to come up with its own just after an year. But even with the Apple App Store, Apple puts a lot of restrictions on you and your device – even though you paid what was asked for the device in full, you don’t have absolute control over it. And that’s why jailbreaking exists; When you jailbreak you unlock the full potential of your iOS device – all the things it couldn’t do before are now possible.
But these new possibilities need a different home, away from Apple’s walled garden that the App Store. That’s where Cydia enters, and that’s why it is automatically installed whenever you jailbreak an iOS device. Cydia is essential to your jailbroken device, without it your jailbreak is worthless.
Now the thing is, just like every piece of software Cydia still has bugs to figure out. It’s not perfect and it has had and will always have problems – after all it’s no simple piece of code. Designing an App Store is quite hard specially when there is a 700b$ company actively trying to crush you and what you stand for.
Today we are going to walk you through fixing one of such problems. Call it a bug or whatever you want but it is very annoying and it won’t fix by itself. If you are reading this you probably know what bug we are talking about anyway.
It would be a nice bright day, you would be enjoying your jailbroken iOS device and would suddenly have an urge to look at what new tweaks Cydia has to offer. You would open Cydia and bam – it won’t load anything. And then you notice the weather has gone grim. Fun times.
“Cydia Stuck on Reloading Data Error” Fix on iPhone and iPad
Now there are many reasons this could happen, one being that you have added a bad repo that’s causing everything to go nuts. Or it could be because Cydia stores everything in a cache to load faster and that might have gone corrupt, because cosmic rays. There is not really one solid reason for this to happen, it could be anything. However, there is one solid way to fix it, and that’s what you are going to learn today.
- Now you need to open Cydia from your Home screen and go to the Sources tab at bottom.
- You need to scroll down in the list to the repositories that have a spinning icon next to them. This means they are still refreshing and if that takes too long then consider it stuck at that for eternity, so we need to fix that.
- To fix that, simply left on the repo that is still refreshing and tap on delete.
Now here we are not exactly fixing the problem rather we are eliminating it completely. By removing the bad repo you are essentially removing the problem from existence. You can still add the repo again if you want and it should work normally now because it will regenerate the cache – unless the repo itself was bad.
And that’s how you fix the “Stuck on Reloading” error for Cydia – not that hard is it? As said you can still simply add the repo again and it should work. By removing the repo we are forcing Cydia to remove everything it knows about the repo and delete all the tweaks within it that it had saved in its cache.
Once it’s removed you can just add it back to the repo list and Cydia will re-download all the details and tweaks from the repo, this will fix all the errors that the corrupt cache had before deleting the repo – unless the repo itself is corrupted. If the repo itself is corrupted we advise not adding it at all, as it’s not going to work either way.
There’s no point in adding a bad repo if you can’t even use it, and you clearly can’t because of this Cydia error. There isn’t much else you can do beside forcing Cydia to refresh it’s cache and data.
